About Us

GrantsandFunding.ie was founded by Derry O Donnell who recognised the problem faced by many not for profit organisations and community groups, namely, finding out about new grant and funding opportunities on time to submit an application.

Derry O Donnell

Derry set up this newsletter service to save people having to spend hours each week searching the internet for new funding opportunities which saves people time to focus on their core work.

As a volunteer with several community groups and working with not-for-profit social enterprises over the years, Derry is well aware of the struggles faced by volunteers and community groups not having enough free time, capacity or funding to carry on operating successfully.

That was why he set up this service and has kept the subscription rate ridiculously low to make it accessible to everyone.

There are 100s of grant and funding opportunities each year that groups don’t hear about or hear about them too late to apply. These opportunities can be from Government, Co. Councils, State Agencies, Charitable Organisations, Social Enterprises, Private Business, Philanthropic Organisations etc. Our aim is to help organisations unlock their funding potential which will empower them to achieve their aims.

Derry O Donnell in his role with ECTC was instrumental in securing funding of €995,000 under the Just Transition Fund for ECTC and the communities of Littleton and Ballingarry (Thurles). He just happened by chance upon a webinar which outlined details of the fund. None of the above mentioned groups had any knowledge of the funding. With only a few short weeks before the deadline and tremendous work put in by the team, the application was submitted just on time and was successful. This experience, of how easily such funding was nearly missed, was one of the main motivators for Derry to set up this website and newsletter service.
